Hello everyone! The members of Burrowsville have started to build our own exercise room at the station. This room is for our members to be able to focus on our physical fitness as part of our training. We are looking for anyone who has any exercise equipment, old or new, that they are no longer using and would like to donate it to the fire department. As always we are very grateful for our community and the support you continue to offer us. If anyone is interested in donating please message us via this page to get the contact information.

Last night two of our members were awarded for their years of service at the PGFEMS award ceremony.

The first member recognized was Barry Royer for 50+ years of service. Barry is our only still active charter member, starting his career in 1969 when the station was established.

The second member recognized was Mackenzie Blackwell for 10 years of service. Mackenzie joined the department in 2015 and since then has rose to the rank of Lieutenant in 2025.

At tonights meeting, our members awarded a community service award to our local Dollar General store #20456. Dollar General and their employees graciously donated all of the toys that we were able to hand out to the children during our ride by Santa event this year, and even donated leftover Christmas decorations to the fire department for our members to use in future parades or to decorate our firehouse. We are so gracious to have the support of our community and this recognition was well deserved!

Each year our department hosts a banquet for our members and their families. This year we held it at Roma Italian restaurant in Petersburg. During these banquets we share a meal, spend time with each others families, and hand out awards to our members for the previous year. These awards include 3 from our membership, and 2 from our Chief.

Membership awards for 2025:

1st top responder: Chief John Suitt (106 out of 113)

2nd top responder: Firefighter Jacob Petruska (59 out of 113)

3rd top responder: Probationary Firefighter Michael Sastram (32 out of 113)

2025 Awards from the Chief:

2025 Firefighter of the year: Traditionally this would be awarded to one member who went above and beyond in their dedication to our department, this past year we had two individuals who fit that category, this title was awarded to Firefighter Jacob Petruska and Probationary Firefighter Michael Sastram.

2025 Officer of the year: Lieutenant Mackenzie Blackwell

In December, we participated in the annual Prince George County parks and rec Christmas parade. We had the honor of being awarded the plaque for best decorated public service vehicle last night at the board of supervisors meeting. Here are our members that helped bring the Christmas magic to life. Pictured are Chief Suitt, Capt. Potts, Lt. Blackwell, Probationary Firefighter Sastram, association member Jake Blackwell, and Kassidy Blackwell. Not pictured are Firefighter Royer, Firefighter Petruska, and association member Tammy Potts. Thank you to each and every one of our members who participated and a huge thank you to the judges who awarded this plaque to us for the 3rd year in a row. ❤️
