There is still more time to register for the medical training class on the 15th. Proper training in first aid, CPR, trauma care, and stop the bleed should be top properties for the prepared citizen. If you possess a concealed carry permit, being trained and equipped in up-to-date life saving medical methods and equipments isn't optional.

Being taught by professionals with years of experience this class will not disappoint beginners or those who already have a basic level of knowledge but want to learn more. DM to register.

Meet the primary instructor teaching the January 15th medical class:

Rick Pyle NRP US&R MedSpec

For the last 19 years I have been a full time Paramedic working for busy urban and rural agencies. In that time I have seen more than I would have liked to and thus have developed many tricks of the trade. From medical mission work in Nigeria, to working as a Tactical Medic on a regional SWAT team, or prolonged field care during building collapse, and even serving as a Medical Specialist with US&R FEMA Task Force 2, I have the ability to bring something that cannot be re-created using a power-point or lecture.

Enrollees will receive hands on instruction and gain knowledge drawn directly from someone who has done the tasks, done them in stressful environments, whether that be in the street or in the woods, and come out on top. I have this experience. I have also been teaching for the last 16 years. In that time I have taught hundreds of wilderness first aid, CPR, tactical medicine, and primitive survival classes. All of which have been well received.
This is a certification course in First aid and CPR but participants will receive much much more from it then simply Standard First Aid.

Medical training is an extemely important aspect of being a prepared citizen. At any moment somebody around you can experience a medical emergency. You never know when you may be the first responder. Dinwiddie Civil Defense is planning a medical training course for January 15th. This will be an 8 course that allows enrollees to receive their first aid certification upon completion.

Students will learn about the mechanisms of severe trauma and ways to mitigate them while staying as safe as possible. Taking elements of Tactical Combat Casualty Care, Stop the Bleed, and Wilderness Medicine together to prepare professionals and civilians alike to better treat people in dangerous environments.

Terrorism, active shooters, natural disasters, and accidents on the highway can happen at any time. You never know when you will be the first responder. Take this course to better prepare how to mitigate:
• Broken bones
• Gunshot wounds
• Airway complications
• Allergic reactions/anaphylaxis
• Hypothermia
• Heat related illness

Scenarios will be entirely high fidelity simulated emergencies. We will present you cases our professional instructors have actually seen and treated in the field. You will see blood, lots of it. You will see gore, lots of it. You will have to work the problem as a team to save the victim.

In most other classes these “victims” are mannequins. In this class we will use live people as much as possible as this allows you to interview the victim, develop a treatment plan based on that interview and execute both the treatment and the evacuation all while having to care and comfort a live person.

Cost of enrollment is $50. To be very clear the DCDF does not make any profit off of this type of course. It is a very expensive production. Once professional trainers are paid and equipment is purchased we typically lose money. The charge for enrollment is necessary to help offset the expense invested in hosting a class such as this.

DM the page to enroll.
