Within the greyhound community there are so many wonderful, caring individuals. It is an incredibly diverse group of people united in their love and compassion for these amazing dogs.
Over 30 years ago Peggy and Lew Levin started Personalized Greyhounds and so many of us have been blessed with hounds who have touched our lives and run away with our hearts because of them.
We lost Peggy in January of 2021 and now she and Lew are together again. Lew passed on 4 May 2024. They were a truly amazing couple and those of us who had the chance to get to know them can truly consider ourselves blessed.
While Peggy was the "out front" extrovert, I always felt Lew was that quiet force who kept everything on point. Today, whether you still have a greyhound from PG or you have a loving memory of one, please take a moment and say "thanks" for these two folks. Their legacy are the lives and hearts they touched. We will miss them deeply.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

UPDATE: I would like to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who has offered to get me medication. The greyhound community is amazing!

Shuey is doing better. The emergency clinic has been able to get his blood pressure down and stable, which was their biggest concern for releasing him. He has three drains, hundreds of stitches, significant bruising, and a lot of muscle soreness, but no major vessels or arteries were hit and he has a very good chance of a full recovery. I can pick him up this afternoon and take him home. Thank you again for all of your prayers and good wishes! - Cheryl

I think I have a five day supply lined up. Thank you, everyone. If I need to get some more, I will try the vet in Hershey that Sue suggests. In the meantime, I would not turn down some prayers for Shuey. Thank you!

Hi all. Cheryl Kovaly here. Reaching out to see if anyone in the Harrisburg area has a supply of Amicar or other form of aminocaproic acid. While walking down the sidewalk in New Jersey, Shuey was attacked by a Pitbull who’s owner was unable to control it. He sustained multiple horrific bites. Miraculously, neither his trachea nor any arteries were hit, but he was in surgery at the Absecon emergency veterinary hospital for several hours. He came through the surgery OK and they will be monitoring him overnight for irregular heartbeat and controlling his pain. They do not have Amicar and we’re unable to find it at any local pharmacies. Do any of you have any on hand or do you know where I can get some compounded quickly? I am hoping he is sufficiently stable tomorrow morning sometime to get him home to Pennsylvania and would like to get him started on some thing as soon as possible. Thank you in advance. It has been a very traumatic day.
