Want to grow your unit? Make Scouting the most fun thing families hear about, and get your community involved in the adventure.

That’s exactly what Cub Scout Pack 169 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania did this fall. In mid-September, the pack partnered with the Sky Pirates, a remote-controlled aircraft club, for a STEM-filled day at the club’s flying field. Scouts and parents rotated through stations on the basics of flight, got hands-on time with propeller planes, jets, and drones, watched high-speed aerobatic demonstrations, and launched their own model rockets.

The result? Scouts and parents are still talking about it in the pack’s chats, and some Scouts were already begging for their own RC planes on the drive home. Cubmaster Andrew Crouthamel called it “a wonderful start to our year.”

Monday Membership Moment - The Secret Sauce of Membership Growth

Many unit leaders are asking two questions right now: How do we keep the Scouts who recently joined, and how do we recruit even more this fall?

One answer is simple. Focus on FUN!

When Scouts have a great time, they come back, bring friends, and their families get excited to join the unit.

A few ideas to try this week:

✅ Plan a hands-on, active meeting that gets everyone moving
✅ Welcome new families personally and connect them with a buddy family
✅ Put an outing, campfire, or service day on the calendar that families can look forward to
✅ Invite friends to your next meeting and make sure every guest feels included

Heads up...changes are coming this renewal season!

📢 Scouting America Membership Renewal Changes Coming (2026–2028)

Scouting America is transitioning all unit and member renewals to a February renewal cycle to simplify the membership process and better align with recruiting season.

Key highlights:

✅ Unit renewals begin transitioning in September 2026.
✅ Individual member renewals transition throughout 2027 using prorated fees.
✅ By February 2028, all units and members will renew on the same annual February schedule.

The new system will create one consistent renewal season, reduce barriers for new members with prorated fees, eliminate the 2-month lapse period, align Safeguarding Youth Training with renewal dates, and give unit leaders more control over the renewal process.

The goal is to improve retention, make renewals easier, and strengthen membership growth across Scouting.

Scout Night at Fields of Adventure is next week and tickets must be purchased ahead of time- there will be no tickets sold at the gate. If your unit wants to participate, buy your tickets soon!

A new event at Fields of Adventure - Scout Night!

Connection, Learning, & Fun - Thursday October 8th from 5pm - 8pm🏕️

Every fall many different scout groups visit our farm for a fun outing! This year we have decided to create an event for it so that the groups can mingle & meet with other local scout groups. Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Eagle Scouts, everyone is welcome to join!

Our 30+ farm attractions will be open for everyone to enjoy, take a scenic hayride around the farm, & The Barrel Factory will be open serving snacks, slushies, & drinks.

🎟️ $10 per person + taxes, Under 2 is free.

A tree is down on Tuckahoe Rd and the power is off again. The Scout Shop is closed until the road can be reopened. Please check the Tuckahoe Scout Shop FB page to see if the road is reopen before heading to the store (current estimate from the power company is 3:30pm.) The Service Center is closed for the rest of today.

UPDATE 9-17 5:11 PM - Road is open and power restored. Unfortunately, we are dealing with yet another tree down blocking Tuckahoe Road. We currently have no power at the Service Center, and we are closing for the day. We apologize for the inconvenience, but trees keep coming down along the road.

We had a great time this morning hosting almost 200 scouts and family members for the Scout Day Train! Our team of merit badge counselors and scouts worked hard and every scout who attempted the Railroading Merit Badge today was able to complete it!
