Just wanted to post the projects METF funded this year. All these projects were funded by our donors.

1) Brown County State Park - B trail between trail 12 & 15 - excavation services to restore washed out hills.

2) Salamonie - 22 new steel hitch rails for the new electric horsemans camp.

3) Versailles State Park - B trail from creek near camp to C trail - Excavation services

4) Brown County State Park - Install Fiber Optic from Guard Shack to Shower House. Project is delayed due to tornado damage. Friends of Brown County State Park also funding this project.

5) Versailles State Park - funded the purchase of 240,000 (6 tri-axle dump truck loads) for X trail between the picnic table and Cave Hill Rd.

6) Versailles State Park - funded the purchase of 120,000 (3 tri-axle dump truck loads) for D trail between 300E & 200N

7) Prairie Creek Reservoir - funded the clearing of invasive plants along the trail by contracting the use of a Forestry tool. Right now, the trail was unexpectedly closed in August.

8)Whitewater State Park - help fund excavation services to fix muddy trail. Project is currently being worked on.

Hey Everyone - We want to give you an update on activities the METF is involved with thus far in 2025. We are really looking forward to seeing these improvements get implemented.

1) A grant for $3,100 was awarded to the Friends of Brown County State Park for the implementation of Wi-Fi near the Comfort Station in the Horsemans Campground. This will help if emergency services are needed in that section of camp. it should service about 100 yard radius. This should be operational by summer 2025.

2) We were able to provide funding of $26,400 for the fabrication of 22 Metal Hitch Rails to be installed at Salamonie Horsemans Camp. These should be installed 2025.

3) Awarded to the ITRA, $8,448 for excavation services needed to raise a trail over a large swampy area of the Horse Trail at Whitewater State Park. This was partially offset by a grant received from Greenways Foundation for $2,500. This project was delayed in 2024 due to DNR permissions and approvals. This should be completed 2025.

4) For Versailles State Park, we awarded $8,400 to the ITRA for excavation services in order to repair a section of B trail from the creek to the C trail. This too, was delayed from 2024 due to DNR permissions due to its location near a Nature Preserve.

We are hoping for more opportunities we could assist with. If you are involved with a trail group and would like to propose a trail or camp project, please contact us. We are here to help.

Nanci and I finished up the section of the turnpike the ITRA worked on this past week. On the first load of rock, the Vermeer Nanci was on busted a hydraulic hose - so that was out of commission. We were able to use the DNR Vermeer to complete the task. I don’t have any after pictures as the Vermeer I was riding on crushed Nanci’s I phone😩Anyway, I was able to to fix the hydraulic hose today. All good now.

Here’s some pictures of what the ITRA did on fixing mud slop on X trail. We repaired about 220 ft. We’re about 25% complete on it. Thanks for the volunteers of ITRA and the DNR reps at Versailles State Park for their support.

Did some trail work today. Thanks to Bill Crane and Rob Brunnemer who took care of hauling rock to the site. It’s at least 1-1/2 miles round trip. This is the most time consuming part of the project. This is the 3rd straight day of doing this. We’ll be hauling rock thru Saturday. I fixed a couple of mud areas from the picnic table to the tunnel on W. Also worked on the muddy area of X.
