The members of Local 4332 are excited to welcome our newest member, FF/EMT Joshua Desmond. FF Desmond has been a dedicated member of the department for years and we’re proud to have him in this new capacity. We wish him a long and healthy career!

Chief Christopher Maguy and the Dighton Fire Department are proud to announce the appointment of Joshua Desmond to the Fulltime Ranks as a Firefighter/EMT. Joshua’s appointment takes effect today, April 19th, when he works his first fulltime shift with the Dighton Fire Department. Joshua has served this department as a Call Firefighter/EMT since July 1, 2021. Joshua started his time with this department in our Junior Firefighter program ten years ago, he is still active in the program as an Assistant Advisor. Joshua is Firefighter I/II ProBoard certified from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy and is currently working to finish a paramedic program.

Congratulations to Lieutenant Justin Daigneault on his well earned promotion from private to Lieutenant!

Lt. Daigneault began his journey with the Dighton Fire Department as a junior firefighter in 2012. Through hard work, dedication, and a true commitment to the job, he progressed through the ranks from call firefighter, to full-time member, and now to officer.

Lt. Daigneault is the first member in our department’s history to rise from junior firefighter to full-time lieutenant, an accomplishment that speaks volumes about his perseverance and character.

We are incredibly proud of Justin and look forward to watching him succeed in his new role. Congratulations, Lieutenant!

Moments of joy like these are what keep us going. 🌟

In this job, we are often called to people on their hardest days. EMS can be heavy, and the calls we remember most are usually the ones involving illness or injury. But every once in a while, we get to be part of a miracle.

Our team recently assisted with a baby delivery in the field, and last week, we were lucky enough to have the family stop by for a visit. We spend a lot of time responding to emergencies, so getting to reconnect with a healthy family and a brand-new baby is a rare and beautiful gift. We are so proud to serve this community and so grateful to have played a small part in this family’s big story.

🚨Call volume on the rise 📈

Our last staffing increase was 8 years ago, meanwhile the calls for service have steadily increased. A nearly 40% increase in volume in that time with no additional manpower and worse, rumblings of layoffs looming on the horizon. Thank you for the ongoing support from our community and partners.

A huge congratulations to our brothers and sisters of Attleboro Firefighters PFFM Local 848. Ever increasing call volume, faster moving fires and continuous community growth are all things we struggle to keep up with. Recognizing these struggles and building your public safety system is critical to prevent burn out and high turnover all while providing top quality public safety.

Attleboro Fire Department Announces Major Staffing Expansion to Improve Emergency Response: The Attleboro Fire Department is marking a significant milestone with the addition of eight new firefighter-paramedic positions, the department’s largest staffing increase in more than a decade. Unlike previous personnel changes, these new positions do not replace retirements; they represent a deliberate expansion aimed at meeting the demands of a rapidly growing call volume and reducing emergency response times citywide.

Over the past ten years, Attleboro has experienced a 78 percent increase in emergency calls, while staffing levels have remained unchanged. This imbalance has placed increasing strain on personnel and has affected the department’s ability to maintain consistent coverage in multiple districts.

“This is a transformational moment for our department,” Fire Chief Scott Lachance said. “For years we’ve seen the call volume rise dramatically, but our staffing stayed flat. These new positions allow us to finally keep pace with the needs of our community, reduce response times, and ensure our firefighters can do their jobs safely and effectively.”
