Our February Mobile Food Pantry is this Saturday, February 14, at the Dickson County Family YMCA (225 Henslee Dr). Distribution starts around 9:30 AM, first come, first served.

A few things to remember:
- One food box per household
- You must be present to receive food
- Stay in your vehicle and make sure your trunk or backseat is clear for loading

ICE detained a 22-year-old woman in Baltimore whose lawyers say is a U.S. citizen.

Dulce Consuelo Diaz Morales was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on December 14 while heading home with her sister. ICE says she failed to prove citizenship at the time of arrest (ya know, like when Jewish people had to carry papers in Germany).

Her attorneys say she was born in Laurel, Maryland, and that they have verified her birth with the hospital and Prince George’s County records. They say she has no criminal record and should not be in detention.

A federal judge ordered that Diaz Morales not be deported while her case is pending, but attorneys say Department of Homeland Security transferred her to Louisiana anyway and that they have not been able to contact her. Her family has since been told she may have been deported, though DHS has not confirmed her location.

As of now, her attorneys say they still do not know where she is or whether she has been deported.

On Friday, November 14, Kelly Duran presented to educators from across the state about working with English learners and their families. The same week Valentin Duran spoke to new police cadets from across the state about interacting with people who have limited English. We are still here and we are still working for you!!

Spring is here, and we're ready for our April Mobile Food Pantry! Join us Saturday, April 12 at St John Lutheran Church Burns (2300 Hwy 96, Burns). Special thanks to our sponsor, St. John Lutheran Church!

Food distribution starts around 9:30 am, so arriving early is encouraged. Food is first come, first served. Please remain in your vehicle and have a clear space ready for food.
