Roosevelt Elementary School has a wonderful new outdoor classroom that is making a difference for students and families, thanks to a grant from the Dickinson Area Community Foundation!

Installed in June 2025, the outdoor classroom seats 48 students and provides a shaded space where teachers can take lessons outside, students can enjoy reading and class discussions, and kids can take a much-needed break from the traditional classroom setting.

The new space is especially important after the school lost several shade trees to Dutch elm disease. Now, instead of searching for shade under playground equipment, students have a comfortable place to cool off, relax, socialize, and recharge.

Beyond the school day, the outdoor classroom is also a great addition to Roosevelt Playground and Community Park, providing a welcoming space for families and neighborhood children to enjoy throughout the summer.

A grant from the Dickinson Area Community Foundation is helping make local childcare settings safer, one LifeVac unit at a time. ❤️

Through grant funding, Women Empowering Women was able to provide LifeVac Anti-Choking Units to 𝟯𝟬 𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻, helping protect an estimated 𝟲𝟬𝟬 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻. By partnering with LifeVac to receive a bulk discount, the organization was able to stretch those grant dollars even further, reaching nearly 𝟱𝟬 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀.

Every grant has a story, and every story has an impact. 🥎

Thanks to a 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗗𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 $𝟯,𝟮𝟰𝟮, Dickinson Girls Fastpitch Softball was able to purchase new batting mats, Z-nets, and roller nets to improve their batting cages and extend the life of their turf.

These upgrades are making a difference for 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟮𝟯𝟬 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀, along with high school, travel, league, and tournament teams who use the facilities. As the organization shared, "To have quality equipment for our 230+ kids and coaches to use to perfect their skills is vital to the success of girls softball."
