Trash Bash 2026 (Dickinson Bayou site) welcomed 177 volunteers cleaning 2 miles of bayou and 3 miles of street ROW (ditches and swales). We had just under 90 Freshman Leaders in Christ from Texas A&M University, WHOOP, they truly were a Godsend as many of our regular volunteers were missing this year.
Four 30 cu yd dumpsters were filled with litter and debris, amounting to approximately 35,000lbs of waste, that will not be flushed into Dickinson Bayou in heavy rains or hurricane, the true purpose of the cleanup. Abandoned tires also present a problem to the bayou and the environment, 210 tires were retrieved from bayou banks, ROW, vacant lots, and backyards, and dropped off for recycling. A HUGE thank you to all our fabulous volunteers, especially our large groups: TAMU FLiC; Dickinson Scout Troop 696 Robert M. Bragg; Kranz Junior High Honor Society members; Clear Creek Environmental Foundation members; City of Dickinson, Texas - City Government awesome Public Works staff, and the Keep Dickinson Beautiful Board of Directors that worked tirelessly hosting this event. Well done everyone, thank you for helping to keep Dickinson, and Dickinson Bayou, clean and beautiful. We hope to see younext year!!

It was an honor to be invited to read “Millie Fleur’s Poison Garden” by author Christy Mandin, to 2 classes of Lobit Elementary School 3rd graders on Tuesday, March 24th. Following the reading, the Librarian gave an activity to the students to design a seed packet naming their imaginary plant using an adjective and alliteration. We all can appreciate the message revealed in this great storybook (which btw included SOUND EFFECTS), that there is beauty and specialness in all plants, and people, whose uniqueness makes them remarkable! Thank you, Lobit Librarian Laura (alliteration LOL) for inviting Keep Dickinson Beautiful to be part of such a wonderful event. In late August 2025, Keep Dickinson Beautiful “KDB” asked for financial assistance from the Dickinson Economic Development Board “DEDC” to address several much-needed repairs at the historic railroad depots. The DEDC agreed and funded the majority of the expense for the repairs. Once repairs were completed in September, KDB used this opportunity to participate in Keep Texas Beautiful “Fall Sweep” cleanup event. Members spent 2.5 days, in September, power washing courtyard pavers and sprucing up the landscaping. These amazing volunteers removed 12 yards of weeds and overgrown landscaping material. Several students from Dickinson High School came out to help put the finishing touches on cleaning this beautiful facility. Thank you so much Dickinson Economic Development Board, Keep Dickinson Beautiful Board members and DHS Student Council members for your support in preserving this priceless piece of history.
