The other day I was taking the dogs on a walk in my neighborhood, and as we passed by one of the houses I happened to look up and in the dining room was a family or many people seated at the table. The majority of them were teenagers. All different ethnicity’s and ages. I did not see one of them on their phones. Which shocked me really. They were all talking and laughing, and it looked like genuine interaction.
I continued to pass by, thankful that these young people had a place at the table. A place that they were welcome, we’re they felt safe and seated among friends.
It made me think of the invitation given to us all by God to come to His table. He has prepared for us all a place where we will not carry the cares of this world, we’re there will be peace and provision. All we have to do is answer the knock on our hearts to let Him in. Some of you have resisted answering that knock for a long time. You want what He has to offer but are afraid of what it would take or what you would have to give up. Don’t worry about that. Just answer the knock and sit at His table and He will take care of the details. You will always be welcome no matter what. Your place is set at His table so come on in. He’s been waiting.

Too often we see test and trials as bad things. Yes there are some terrible things that we go through but out of every test or trial we should ask ourselves “what can I learn from this “. Many times we try to escape from whatever may be coming our way, taking the easy way out. As parents we sometimes try to fix all of our kids problems not letting them walk it out themselves. Yes sometimes we have to let them fall. Why? So they will learn how to get back up and walk on! We were never promised that this life would be without trouble, tests or trials. We are promised that He our Heavenly Father would be there to give us the wisdom we need to make it out.
So in the midst of your trial allow the pain and pressure your going through build your faith. He is still right there with you. Trust Him to lead you out.
Don’t be wishy washy with your faith. If your putting your faith out there for something just hang on.
Years ago when Kevin was run over by the backhoe and everything looked impossible the Lord told me this “the facts are he’s got this, this and this “ all the things, to many to name, “ but the TRUTH is what my word says” BY HIS STRIPES HE IS HEALED. Thirteen days later he walked out of that hospital. God is here for you today too. Only BELIEVE!

As I was walking my dogs today, I came across this tree in our neighborhood. As you can see it looks like it has struggled for some time. There is evidently something working against it for it to thrive. I stopped to take a picture because it spoke to me. I thought of all the people who were struggling right now. And despite the outward situations coming against them, somewhere from deep inside they continue to produce blooms. The determination it requires to stand in the face of disease or trouble is so powerful.
As I continued my walk I thought about the owners of this property. I asked myself how someone could just let this beautiful tree struggle like this. Maybe it’s because they just don’t have the knowledge to care for it or maybe they don’t have the correct supplies to tend to the cause of the sickness it has. It could be they just gave up because the cares of life are just too overwhelming, and they don’t have it in them to care anymore. Regardless of the reason, this tree continues to push new growth and blooms. How, because it has strong roots. It may struggle, but in time depending on the treatment it gets it will heal. So, for those who are facing struggles today don’t give up! YOU have what it takes to stand firm in your faith. It isn’t about all the things we do to thrive, yes, they matter, but what matters most is how we use our faith in the one that has the power to change the outcome.
IF YOU STAY ROOTED THERE LONG ENOUGH YOU WILL CONTINUE TO BLOOM GLORIOULY TO BRING LIGHT AND LIFE TO OTHERS. SO, STAY STRONG MY FRIENDS, “WE MUST CONTINUE TO HOLD FIRMLY TO OUR DECLARATION OF FAITH. THE ONE WHO MADE THE PROMISE IS FAITHFUL”). Hebrews 10:23 GW

I’ve given you the power to choose!

I woke up in the middle of
the night and heard this in my spirit. I knew immediately what God was trying to say to me. We have all been created with a purpose. The one God saw us doing long before we were born.
Some have searched and found the very thing that fits them. Others are looking in all the wrong places, living with this longing to find the exact purpose they were crated for. God see’s the bigger picture. Sometimes we can only see what’s right before us, so every choice we make will either drive us closer to our purpose and the things that will have the greatest impact on people or (the Kingdom) or it will steer us in the wrong direction. Only to have us on the wrong path again.
SEARCHING!
There is so much power in the CHOICE we make to follow Christ and Gods will for our life. It will take sacrifice and lots of good old will power to get where we are meant to be.
I’m going to use my daughter as an example today. When she started her journey of getting fit, and making better life choices for her health it took sacrifices. When she went to the gym the first time she probably didn’t even know what she was capable of or what the outcome could really look like, but I bet her coach or instructor knew what she could accomplish if she just stuck it out and stayed committed to the process. He could see the big picture. So he encouraged and probably sometimes pushed her beyond what she thought she could do. She made choices ever day, sacrifices to stay the course, and now it’s paying off. I’m sure it’s not the easiest thing but she sees beyond where she is right now to the point of where she can be.
That’s what the power of choice can do in our life. It’s ours to make. I really just depends on us! Do we want it bad enough to follow through and make the tough choices that come every day to keep us on track to the finish line.
He has given us that power.
The power to CHOOSE!
CHOOSE wisely.

Love you all,
Margie

Sometimes in life we need to conquer and overcome! What does that look like? Probably different for everyone going through something life changing or difficult. If I have learned anything in the last decade of my life it is that to be victorious you have to have a will to go on no matter what and have the fortitude to overcome any disappointment that stands in your way. We are not guaranteed a smooth ride when we give our life to the Lord, but we are guaranteed His promises if we do not quit. Kevin and I always had a saying “WE WILL NOT QUIT”. Even in his last day’s I would ask him if he was ready to stop and he would look at me with determination in his eyes and shake his head no. For me he will always be such an example of a true servant of God.
Some of you are facing tremendous challenges before you. Others have gotten to a place where you are asking yourself “what is the use”? I just want to give up! NO, NO, NO! That is NOT an option. You have come to far and you have much more to give. You my friend are important to God. You have a purpose.
When David was confronted by the giant in 1 Sam. 32-51, he understood who he was, and who’s he was. He also knew that Goliath was an enemy of God. David trusted in God to have a victorious outcome on the battlefield that day. He never doubted that his God would desert him and give him over to the enemy. You my friend have the same God on your side today, right there waiting for you to take whatever step you need to take towards your enemy. Do not be afraid ONLY BELIEVE! You will be victorious if you do not quit!

In Him,
Margie

Hello everyone,
Praying you are all having a great start to this new year. Things have been very different for me, but I’m learning to adjust. I allowed myself time to recover and take care of me for a bit. Now its time to start again. Starting over has its challenges but it also gives us the opportunity to learn new things and step out of our comfort zone. I believe that if we have the will to do whatever we feel God is leading us to He can make it happen if we do our part. So here is to the new beginning.
For some time now I have been meditating on the story of Martha and Mary.
Look what is says here in Luke 10: 38-41
38 As they were traveling along, Jesus went into a village. A woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. 39 She had a sister named Mary. Mary sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to him talk.
40 But Martha was upset about all the work she had to do. So, she asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work all by myself? Tell her to help me.”
41 The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha! You worry and fuss about a lot of things. 42 There’s only one thing you need.[a] Mary has made the right choice, and that one thing will not be taken away from her.”
Many of us can relate to the story of Martha and Mary, myself included. As a task-oriented person, I can so relate to Martha, but in my heart, I want to be a Mary! I want to be the one taking the time to sit and listen, but so often find myself with all the busy work that needs to be done every day. In these verses Martha was a little put out that Mary was just sitting there listing to Jesus. What’s funny is MARTHA is the one who asked Jesus into her house. Instead of taking the time to enjoy His presence she wanted everything to be perfect. You know us busy people. We must have it all done, and it needs to look good too. While MARY just sat there enjoying His presence. She was not worried about the meal or how great the house looked she just wanted to sit and listen!
Now don’t get me wrong I am all for a clean and orderly home, just ask my kids! They probably have issues today because of my OCD!!! Honestly, I want to be able to sit and listen with out the outside noise telling me to go CLEAN THE KITCHEN! LOL! I’m learning, and I’m not giving up. Every day is an opportunity to sit before God and listen. Sometimes I think we talk too much; we need to wait and listen.
I believe Martha’s motive was to be hospitable to Jesus as a guest in her home. As she saw all the tasks before her, she let that become more important than the presence of Jesus. While Mary’s desire was to listen to His every word. Martha even went so far as to TELL Jesus to make Mary help her. Oh my!! How many of us have done the very same thing. Well maybe we don’t tell Jesus what to do, or……, ok maybe we do. We can do better, right?
If it is our desire to sit and listen, then let’s make it our number one goal to honor His presence, no matter where we are. It’s a new beginning. You can do it!
In Him,
Margie

“This letter is from Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, chosen by God to be an apostle and sent out to preach his Good News. God promised this Good News long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures. The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line, and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name. And you are included among those Gentiles who have been called to belong to Jesus Christ. I am writing to all of you in Rome who are loved by God and are called to be his own holy people. May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.”

The following post is from one of Kevins students from years ago. She has been in ministry with her husband for many years. Kevin was so very proud of both Vanessa and Jeff and enjoyed watching their journey while walking out their calling. He loved pouring into you both.
Vanessa also has a book titled
“Encounters with God on the threshing floor” it is now available on Amazon. Kevin was so proud to be a part of this project. Go check it out.
I hope you enjoy this small nugget and that it helps you in tour walk with God.

Before the Storm

Mat 14:26-28 But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”

There is a lot going on in this story, and we have heard many sermons preached on this story; however, something different jumped out at me this time. The disciples were being rocked by a pretty significant storm. The wind and the waves were so strong that when Jesus came to them, they thought He was a ghost. They literally couldn’t recognize Him because the storm was so strong. They see some sort of figure coming towards them and it caused great fear. The Lord doesn’t say, “It’s Jesus.” He says, “It is I.” Anyone could have said that, but this voice was different. Peter knew this voice. He responds with “Lord…”
Even when Peter couldn’t see Jesus, he recognized His voice. How? They had been spending so much time together, that Peter could pick out that voice anywhere. He didn’t wait until they were in a storm to try to learn Jesus’ voice. He already knew it. Prayer lives tend to significantly increase during a storm, right? Hard times hit, and God hears from us a lot! During a storm is not the time to try to decipher the voice of God. It’s long before the storm. Spending time every day. Listening. Obeying. Praying.
Notice that when Peter knew it was Jesus, he never asked Jesus to calm the storm. In fact, he was willing to jump into the elements and attempt the impossible. God may not immediately stop every storm you face, but if you know His voice, you will realize that He’s not far! In fact, when you follow His voice, you can walk on top of the storms. They may not immediately stop, but they no longer have power over you!

I am a very task oriented person, one who loves to see results sooner rather than later. Tonight I was thinking of something that Kevin and I learned years ago from one of our ministry mentors Hettie Lou Brooks. It was close to the time we were getting the camp started and Kevin was the youth pastor at church. We were very busy. I will never forget one of the two most important things I learned from her. The first, which goes along with what I want to talk about is this “don’t get caught up in the mechanics of camp, get caught up in the GOD of camp. This truly saved us so many times.
Whether you are in ministry, own your own business or are over any area at your current job. It is sooooo easy to get caught up in the machine that the job has become. You might have started out with all the right intentions by really seeking God and TRUSTING HIM but somewhere along the way YOU started carrying the burden of that job or ministry. Before you know it you are just trying to make do and get by. Scrambling to succeed.
When you are a person who likes to see results quick you try to make it happen sometimes before you have even prayed about it or trusted God to give you instructions. How do I know this? WELL..... let’s just say I’ve done it a time or two. If we want to truly be successful in our calling no matter what it is we need to make sure we are allowing God to be a part, and not get caught up in the mechanics of that ministry or job.
If we spent as much time with God as we did trying to figure it out on or own, we would not only be finished or have our answers but we would have so much more peace.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
James 1:5 NKJV
So for all of us out there trying to MAKE IT HAPPEN, go spend time with the one who called you first! HE has the answer.

In Him
Margie
