💚 Sometimes I sit back after Toss for DMD and wonder how in the world we ended up here.💚
What started because of one little boy that we love so fiercely has grown into a community of people who continue to show up in the most beautiful ways imaginable.
On Saturday, we hosted our 3rd Annual Toss for DMD and truly, it was one of the most special days we have ever experienced.
This year we had EIGHT boys affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in attendance representing seven families.
Seven families trusting us with their hearts, their stories, their struggles, and their boys.
And if you were there… you felt it.
You felt the love.
You felt the community.
You felt the WHY behind all of this. 💚
One of my absolute favorite moments every single year is watching the boys using their chairs to race around the field circling the co****le courts. Watching siblings hop onto chairs for rides, hearing the laughter, seeing the boys race one another and just be KIDS… it is impossible to explain unless you witness it yourself.
When you watch the joy, the resilience, the exhaustion, the laughter, the love, and the fight all existing together at once — it changes you.
You stop just hearing about a Duchenne diagnosis … and start understanding the incredible strength these boys and families carry every single day. 💚
And because of this incredible community, we were blessed to be able to give $10,000 directly into the hands of families who need it most.
Not to a giant corporation.
Not lost in paperwork.
DIRECTLY to families. battling Duchenne.
That brings our 2-year total to OVER $20,000 given directly to families walking this fight. 💚
And for us personally… that means everything.
When Jonah was diagnosed and we started 5 Exons, we just knew we needed to DO something. Anything.
Because loving someone with DMD changes you forever.
And somehow, this community keeps showing up beside us.
Thank you to Brittany for absolutely crushing the raffle table this year.
Thank you to Ray, Rikki, Blake, Rob, Ali, and everyone who helped us throughout the event day.
Thank you to Susan (Garrett’s grandma 💚) for all the behind-the-scenes support and helping spread the word.
Thank you to every vendor, every raffle donor, every volunteer, every sponsor, every player, every person who shared a post, bought a raffle ticket, donated, hugged a mom, talked with a family, or simply showed up.
And of course, thank you to our sponsors who make all of this possible:

Sometimes running a nonprofit feels overwhelming. Sometimes the need feels bigger than us. But Saturday reminded us that love shows up in HUGE ways when people choose to care.
And my goodness… you all showed up. 💚
