Timing your arrival at Diamond Head during golden hour?

Pure luck, but wow does it pay off. After days of nothing but blue water, the island appears right as the sun starts dropping. The crater lights up in this warm glow, the water goes from deep blue to every shade of gold and turquoise, and suddenly all those long nights on watch don't seem so bad.

You can almost smell the sweet fruit onshore and taste the cold Mai Tai awaiting you at the dock. You've made it to paradise!

What do sailors see while sailing across the Pacific Ocean?

A whole lot of blue. The water transforms into the most incredible shade of deep blue, and as they get closer to Hawaii, the skies match it perfectly (in between squalls!). Sure, they spot wildlife, passing ships, floating debris, and maybe even cross paths with another Transpac boat. But it's that endless, vivid blue stretching in every direction that sticks with them long after they reach the shore.

Nothing compares to the energy at the Transpac start.
The water is alive with boats, each team fighting for the perfect position, spectator boats cheering them on, the fireboat's spray creating rainbows in the air. Media helicopters buzz overhead while cameras capture the organized frenzy from the water. Hearts are pounding, crews are dialed in, and the excitement is contagious.

When that starting gun fires fires, the long journey to Hawaii begins.
