Celebrated the life of Rey Fernandez , concelebrated by 8 San Diego priests & surrounded by many people who came to honor him ,truly reflected the life he led !Rey was an active member of society ,a devoted church leader and founder of the Geronians of So. CA. If I remember it right , he was one of the first US navy from our little barrio in the Philippines . He will always be remembered for his contagious laugh & warm genuine smile. Rest easy now Manong Rey !

We are saddened to announce the passing of Rey Fernandez, who died on Jan.26,2026 at the age of 88. Rey was the founder of GSCI and a cherished town mate ,whose vision & dedication brought our community together . His leadership, generosity & commitment to fellowship will be remembered with deep gratitude by all who know him . He leaves behind a lasting legacy in the association he built & the friendship he nurtured over the years . The viewing will be Feb.5,2026 from 4-7 pm at Legacy funeral & Cremation Care,7043 University Ave.,La Mesa,CA 91942 and funeral mass on Feb.6 ,2026 at 1 pm at St.Pius X Church,1120 Cuyamaca Ave.,Chula Vista,CA 91911.
