AHEPA Ann Arbor Chapter 195 had their annual Christmas Party last Tuesday evening. It was a night of fun, joy, giving and remembering our departed Brothers. Three Brothers had special recognitions bestowed upon them:
Chris Kalogeropoulos was awarded the "Chapter 195 Leadership Award".
Christos Philippou was awarded the "Mr. Chapter 195 Award".
Thano Masters was awarded the "Chapter 195 Lifetime Achievement Award".
Thank you Peter Theocharakis and Dexter Pub for the delicious dinner and beatifully decorated venue. Thank You to all the AHEPA Ann Arbor Chapter 195 Members that once again made this year a successful year of giving to those "in-need"!

Last Tuesday was a very productive AHEPA Ann Arbor Chapter 195 meeting. We voted to donate a total of over $5000 to various charities (St. Louis Center, AHEPA Journey To Greece program, Sons of Pericles and others). We had a fantastic salmon dinner cooked by Peter Petropoulos and George Kokales and initiated nine new members into the Ann Arbor Chapter. I'm very proud of our 130 members strong! Go AHEPA!

Enjoyed dinner and the play "Scrooge! The Musical" at the LaComedia in Springboro, OH on Thursday evening. The outing was organized by the AHEPA Dayton Chapter 113. The performance was excellent and really depicted the well-known story with an added flair! Thank you Chapter President Nick Zois and Global AHEPAN of the Year Nick Regopoulos and his wife Carrie for the invitation and hospitality!

Last night, AHEPA Supreme President Chris Kaitson, Supreme Governor Craig Theros and District 11 Governor Nick Cassudakis attended the AHEPA Dilboy Chapter 129 meeting in Louisville, KY. We were welcomed by a great group of Brothers. This Chapter embraces the AHEPA mission of helping those in-need! Among the donation requests, they voted to approve the donation of $15,000 to the District 11 Buckeye District Educational Foundation. This upped their total endowment to $40,000, which now creates an annual educational scholarship, for some needy studen, in perpetuity. Bravo Brothers!
Also, Tom Karageorge and Peter Fournaris were given a special award for their outstanding work and contributions to the AHEPA organization over the years! Axios!

Was honored to be invited to speak at yesterday's testimonial luncheon for an AHEPA District 10 legend, Milton Gust! He was a founding member of the AHEPA District 10 Educational Foundation, 50+ years ago. About 175 people attended this impressive event to pay tribute to Brother Milton's unwavering dedication to the AHEPA and the Educational Foundation!

I had the pleasure of attending a meeting of the Brothers of AHEPA Ypsilanti Chapter 118 in Toledo, Ohio last evening, where I witnessed a smoothly run gathering marked by a rich exchange of creative ideas among participants. Thanks to strong leadership, these enthusiastic Brothers have navigated a period of adversity and are now positioned to restore their Chapter to its former prominence within Buckeye District 11.

The New York City Marathon is now in the books. This was not my "A" race, but I finished! Going out too fast at the beginning and, later, achillies & hip issues dashed my target finish time. But, once again, I WAS PROUD TO RUN WITH THE AHEPA LOGO ON MY CHEST...THE GREATEST CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION ON EARTH! Thank to all that yelled "GO AHEPA" or "GO GREEK" all along the course! It really helped make a difference getting to the finish!

Sunday, AHEPA Ann Arbor Chapter 195 commemorated the 85th anniversary of OXI Day. On this day, Greece said a resounding "NO" to Italy and the Axis Powers of allowing them to occupy the country without resistance. The Greeks fought valiantly and changed the course of events that ensued during WWII. Winston Churchill later stated, "Hence, we will not say that Greeks fight like heroes, but that heroes fight like Greeks".

Tuesday was the 13th and final AHEPA "Milk For Flint" giveaway. Once again, it was a resounding success! It all began in 2016 when the residents of Flint, Michigan became victims of the "Flint Water Crisis", where they were exposed to lead poisoning through their drinking water. In response, AHEPA District 10 fundraised and began milk giveaways to the Flint residents, since milk helped to accelerate the natural processes of dissipating lead from the body. In total, AHEPA District 10 fundraised for over $41,000 and gave away over 20,000 gallons to those in-need! Thank you to Flint Catholic Charities who partnered with the AHEPA in providing the venue for the giveaways and Flint Kroger #404 for providing and transporting the milk at a great price. The "Milk For Flint" is only one program of many that AHEPA continues it's mission to helping those in-need throughout the world!
