DHS Citizen Astronomy Club Citizen Astronomy Club This page is to share observations of interest to amateur astronomers. Please post cool stuff and share with friends.

I started it thinking that it may be a cool way to help Dexter High School kids have a place to share astronomic photos and information.

Celebrate Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day!

Today we celebrate our precious 🌍, our one and only home.

That's why the 🇪🇺 is committed to becoming climate-neutral by 2050, so that future generations can celebrate planet Earth, just as we can.

These crisp clear mornings are giving a nice view of Jupiter. The photo quality is poor, but you can see the Moon (Luna) the star Spica directly below the Moon, and Jupiter off to the right.

On the 20th of November we may enjoy a clear morning sky in the Dexter-Ann Arbor area. Here is an image showing the position of the comet (the red cross-hairs) as you look East at 6:30 am. The brightest object low on the horizon will be Mercury. The star that's shown up and to the right of Mercury is Spica. The comet ISON will be mid-way between them.
Good luck observing and please send photos!
