“You are always 17 in your hometown” Cody Canada

There is something magical about homecoming in a small town. This year in Dexter it was extra special.

Alumni from all ages came home. The Spartan football team was victorious. A new queen was crowned. Neighbors visited with each other downtown.

The whole community of 200 plus over a thousand guests enjoyed live music under the beautiful new pavilion that they built.

Justin McKee motivated over 300 attendees on coming together as a community and the benefits of a rural lifestyle.

90’s country artist Chris Cagle and the red dirt superstar Cody Canada wowed the crowds.

We laughed, hugged, watched fireworks, enjoyed wonderful food, shopped and loved coming Back to the Valley.

There is a LOT happening during Back to the Valley, October 2–3! From the Alumni Tailgate and Homecoming football game on Friday to Saturday’s breakfast, 5K, tournaments, Kidz Zone, Bingo, vendors, food trucks, CCLA Beef Dinner, Justin McKee and FREE concerts — you’re going to need the whole weekend!

We’re bringing together the best parts of a hometown celebration: old friends, new memories and plenty of reasons to spend the weekend in Dexter.

Did you miss out on BBQ shirts and koozies? You’re in luck!

Slim and regular can koozies are available at Blue Diamond Liquor for $3 each.

T-Shirts prints from this year and last year are available as well! This year’s 2026 shirts (stars, stripes and Dexter, KS nights) will be printed on black short sleeve. Last years 2025 prints (BBQ man and turtle race) will be on red short sleeve shirts. Shirts are $20 each.
