John is the newest member of our SCSW crew, but you wouldn’t know it. He joined us about 4 months ago and builds the wooden spools for Alan Wire. He builds them like he has been here for years! Such a great guy, hard worker and takes pride in every spool he builds. ☺️

📣🔴Who We Are🔴📣

🔴The Stoddard County Sheltered Workshop is a Missouri nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to employing individuals with disabilities in Stoddard County.

🔴We are proud to have employees from Bernie, Bloomfield, Dexter, Dudley, Essex, and Puxico, and we are grateful to be part of such a wonderful community.

🔴Our Workshop is located at 1118 W. Center St. in Dexter, Missouri, where we have proudly operated from the same location for 50 years. You can find us one street over from Powell Supply and down the street from Wendy’s, formerly the location of Fiddlers Fish House.

🔴We are proud of our history, our employees, and the community we have served for five decades!

Stephen is sorting the clear bottles today. He has been with us a little over 3 years! When we receive recycling trailers, along with recycling from the community, everything has to be sorted. He is a very important part of our SCSW team, and we are so proud of him 🥰

We have so many new followers on our page 🥰☺️. We can’t thank you enough! For those who are new, we just want to let you know about who we are. We will be posting different types of info about the SCSW, along with our fabulous employees☺️

🟢How We Are Funded🟢

Our Sheltered Workshop is funded through a tax levy approved by Stoddard County voters in 1976.

🟢 Did you know that the Sheltered Workshop tax collected from your personal property taxes does not come directly to us?

🟢The county collector sends those funds to the SB 40 Board, which oversees and distributes the money to our Workshop.

This process helps ensure that taxpayer dollars are properly managed and used to support our operations, including payroll and utilities.

🟢 On average, this tax generates between $450,000 and $500,000 annually. We believe it’s important for our community to understand how these funds are collected and distributed and how they help us continue serving our community.
