Hi! I’m Karrah Green and I’m helping plan the Pay-It-Forward fundraiser this year. I would like to start with my apologies for such a long post! So many people care deeply about this effort so I felt It was important for me to fully introduce myself and tell you about why I volunteered for and care about this project!!
I graduated from Austin High School last year, and I currently work as a hostess at Kenny's Oak Grill. This fall I am headed to college for a hospitality degree so I can pursue a future in event coordination!
I found my love for event planning during my time in the Mower County CEO program. Where I got the opportunity to host an event here in town, a comedy show with Kevin Farley. As well as a chance to launch my own business, Pottery Lane Ceramics. Which is currently a project I have put on pause due to a very busy life. But I still love to create pottery and other art in my spare time!!
Running a business runs in my family! 😂 You might have had the chance to meet my mom Karrie Green, who is a massage therapist and the sole business owner of Green Touch Doula Care. Or my dad, Author Ben Green who is an ALC teacher 9 months out of the year. But spends his nights, weekends, and summers writing novels or working hard to support Meeple Center a nonprofit he has created to bring people together through game nights at Hot Off the Press Comics and Coffee every Friday night. Because of my wonderful family I've gotten to see first-hand the relationship local businesses have with the community that supports them.
Both my parents, and all the individuals in Austin who have mentored me in one way or another, have taught me one thing over and over again, and it’s that a tightly woven community benefits every individual involved. There is an indisputable power of a community that works together as one entity to achieve something great. And that’s exactly what Pay-It-Forward stands for. So once again let me share my enthusiasm with you to be involved in such an important project!!!
I’m really excited to be working with Gina to plan the Pay-It-Forward fundraiser this year, and I can’t wait to meet all of you that support and make this event possible! Please keep your eyes open for a post coming soon. We will be looking for input on themes for this year’s fundraiser, so get those gears turning!
