The Achievement Foundation is an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1945 by national leaders of the Junior Achievement movement. It dedicates itself to developing a better understanding of the free enterprise system by young people with particular emphasis on supporting the mission of Junior Achievement. We do that by financially supporting Junior Achievement USA, its affiliates and beneficiaries through grants, loans and scholarships. Our current corpus is $6 million. If you would like to work with us, please begin by reaching out to your JA USA Operations Representative or our own Executive Director.

The Achievement Foundation is saddened to learn of the sudden passing of one of our long-serving board members, Dennis Houlihan at his home in Long Beach, CA, on September 5th.

Dennis participated as an Achiever in the San Francisco and Fresno, CA, JA company programs and was a delegate to NAJAC, eventually serving as its beloved organist for a decade. Dennis first got involved with JA in San Francisco when their “business” was putting on a talent show with the headliner, John Gary. Dennis placed third, playing a three manual Rodgers theatre organ. He joined Roland US as CEO & President in 1993 and it all came full circle when he assumed the added role of President of Rodgers Organs. He was appointed Chairman of Roland US in 2010.

In addition to all of his extensive, professional, music industry accomplishments, he served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Achievement Foundation since 2010 where his contributions did much to enable young people to learn about the free enterprise system through the programs of Junior Achievement.

Beloved by all who knew him, Dennis will be remembered for his sincere interest in everyone he encountered and his generosity of spirit and friendship.

More details about a celebration of life will be forthcoming in the days ahead, in the meantime, Dennis’s family has asked that in lieu of flowers and for those interested in honoring his memory to please consider a gift to either the NAMM Foundation or the Achievement Foundation whose missions he passionately continued to champion.
