Good News! We have a new Youth Coordinator – his name is Jason Bender. Here’s a brief bio~

Jason Bender has been involved with volunteer coordination and youth empowerment for over 5 years. During that time, he has worked on a multitude of social and environmental advocacy projects, including work at the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. He is presently working with a group of educators in the academic community to create a developmental curriculum and facilitation pedagogy to support community groups that are working to address complex issues such as climate change, pollution and practices of sustainability. In addition to this, he also presently operates a business that he created in 2005 called Artisan Timberworks a company that salvages and repairs timber-framed barns, farmhouses and other historic structures. In his spare time, he enjoys meditation, reading, writing, woodworking and listening to music. Currently, he resides with his wife Lindsay Bender in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia and is an active member in that community.

We are working out his official start date – I’ll keep you posted. Thank you to the Youth Adult Committee, Youth Advisors and youth for keeping the program running in the absence of this important staff person!

The job posting for the Youth Program Coordinator is now on the MLUC website. If you know someone who is at least 25 years old, has transportation, and wants to work 12-hours/week refer them to the website where they will find the Job Description and instructions on how to apply!
