Youth Are Bigger Than Life Youth Are Bigger Than Life is an educational based program designed to guide and elevate the youth. It was time to try it another way.

As a young athlete, the founder of “Youth are Bigger than life” Marvin Skipper Jr. became very good at what was most inspiring to many young men in the “hood”, basketball! Throughout his high school years, he was well recognized as “the dipper” in comparison to the great Wilt Chamberlain. His basketball skills were above average and he was destined to be in the NBA. One day during basketball pract

ice, Marvin passed out unexpectedly. What doctors initially thought were typical athletes dehydration became the worst news of Marvin’s life. Marvin was diagnosed with “Ventricular Arrhythmia” and later having to have surgical procedures which resulted in a defibrillator being placed over Marvin’s heart. The ultimate plan to become a huge NBA star in hopes of finally being able to give back to his community was now over. Marvin attended college at Eastern Michigan University and received his Bachelor’s degree in communication while minoring in children’s literature. Sometime after he graduated college, Marvin met his partner Kristen Jolly and together they came up with a nonprofit organization called Youth Are Bigger than Life.
