Residents of Detroit’s Mackenzie Noble neighborhood came together to demand action against ongoing break-ins, thefts, and alleged illegal activity affecting their community.
Neighbors say repeated home invasions created growing fears over public safety and quality of life. Residents also say vandals are stealing items such as water heaters, pipes, sinks, washers, and dryers from homes throughout the neighborhood. Community members alleged that a local business would retrieve the stolen items from the vandals and resell them to the public.

Residents called on city leaders and law enforcement to step up enforcement and deliver long-term solutions as they stood united for safer neighborhoods.

Looking back at a powerful moment in Detroit media and community leadership.

DABO’s Urban Voices on FOX 2 brought important conversations to the forefront, creating space for dialogue, advocacy, and truth.

Pictured here: Horace L. Sheffield Jr., James E. Trent, and Judge Gardner. All leaders whose voices helped shape the conversation around justice, equity, and the future of our communities.

Today we celebrate the incredible impact of Chantel Watkins and the heart she pours into DABO every single day. Her dedication, leadership, compassion, and commitment to our community help move this organization forward in powerful ways.

Behind so much of the work happening at DABO is someone making sure people feel seen, supported, organized, and empowered and Chantel continues to do just that with grace and excellence. Her role is not only important to the success of the organization, but to the people we serve throughout the community.

DABO is stronger because of her passion, her consistency, and her belief in the mission. We appreciate you, Chantel, and thank you for all that you do. We love you!!

Yesterday, mental health advocate and counselor Monet McLendon held a Mental Health Fair at DABO Detroit focused on bringing valuable resources, support, and awareness directly to our community. From mental health education to grief support and wellness conversations, the mission was clear: making mental health awareness a priority and reminding people they are not alone. Thank you to everyone who came out, shared, connected, and helped create a safe space for healing and growth.
