On Tuesday, MoveDetroit and Mayor Mary Sheffield announced the inaugural recipients of the Make Detroit Home $15,000 grants - investing directly in the people who are shaping Detroit’s future.

From entrepreneurs growing businesses and creating jobs to returning Detroiters investing in homeownership and community, these 13 recipients are putting down roots and turning their plans for Detroit into action.

Together, the Make Detroit Home initiative will award $500,000 to support 313 current and future Detroiters through business investments, homeownership, renovations, rent, and relocation assistance.

This is what it looks like to invest in the people who believe in Detroit, and are building what comes next.

The best fall coffee stop in Detroit is ___________ 🍂☕️

Ade is on a mission to find his favorite cup of coffee in the city, and there’s just one problem: he’s not even a coffee drinker. 😂

So, we stopped by Гостиница "Сиреневая" in downtown Detroit to try their new fall menu and see if this might be the cup that changes his mind.

From seasonal drinks to cozy seats to work or hang with friends, Siren Hotel is giving us another reason to make a coffee run.

We had the best time at The Coney ✨

A celebration of Detroit, creativity, comedy, music & most importantly, supporting the next generation of Detroit artists.

The night brought some of the biggest names in entertainment from Detroit back home to celebrate the city, its talent, and its next generation of creatives.

Created by Marc Evan Jackson in partnership with the Children’s Foundation of Michigan, The Coney was founded to support youth arts programs across Detroit, from teaching artists and arts-focused organizations to performance opportunities, supplies, instruments, and long-term funding for youth arts education.

SNIPPETS FROM EASTERN MARKET AFTER DARK.

We asked Detroiters a simple question: What about Detroit moves you?

The answers had a common thread - the people.

The neighbors who show up. The businesses that give our neighborhoods their character. The artists, makers, founders, and friends who keep creating reasons to come together.

Eastern Market After Dark is a perfect example of what makes Detroit feel like Detroit: a night that brings people together, gets us moving through the city, and puts local businesses at the center of it all.

Because sometimes, what moves you about a place isn’t a landmark or a skyline.
It’s the community you find there.
