PAWS in the D We share resources and provide trainings in our areas of expertise. Our members meet once a month to discuss concerns, needs, events and ideas.

PAWS in the D - (Providing Animal Welfare Services in the D) - is a coalition of the Detroit animal welfare community including rescue, outreach and enforcement organizations as well as independent animal advocates. Forming in late 2013, PAWS in the D is a coalition of organizations and individuals who provide animal welfare services to the animals and their families living in the city of Detroit.

PAWS in the D members sign a pledge and work respectfully together under the mutual understanding that by working together we are able to reach more animals, positively effecting their lives. It is the mission of PAWS in the D members to form personal relationships with Detroit's animal owners and provide them with the tools they need to properly care for the animals they love. ‼️‼️‼️HEAT ADVISORY‼️‼️‼️

Oppressively DANGEROUS temperatures are forecast for today, and the next several days, w high humidity bringing heat index up over 100°.

If you house your dogs outside, please bring them inside and let them hang out in your basement, especially if they are elderly.

The same applies for your cats.

If your animals must be outside, please at the very least, make sure there is shade, and access to fresh water, changed throughout the day.

You are responsible for your pets well being, and by law you must provide adequate shelter, which may require special provisions during extreme weather conditions.

Please be compassionate.

Please put your dogs in your basements with access to cold, fresh water, if possible. If you're unable to, please ensure they have an area that is shaded (NOT a doghouse - they will become TOO hot inside) and that they have plenty of cold, fresh water.

Secure those fences and gates. Go outside w your dog for potty breaks. And if you could be kind and bring your outside dogs inside today, that would be even better.
