The Exodus Foundation

The Exodus Foundation Advancing an equitable future for women and children since 2015. πŸ•ŠοΈ The Exodus Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Michigan.

Founded in 2015 by domestic violence survivor and author Harriet Cammock, The Exodus Foundation is an organization that provides shelter to unhoused human trafficking victims, and advocates for a permanent end to violence against women. The Exodus Foundation lobbies elected officials to enact laws that successfully convict human traffickers and abusers, while de-criminalizing the survivors. Named

for the Biblical text that tells the story of how enslaved people were liberated from bo***ge, The Exodus Foundation strives to set victims of violence and human trafficking free through targeted advocacy, the provision of long-term shelter, and ongoing mental support. All contributions to The Exodus Foundation are tax deductible under the terms of the U.S. tax code. Through victim-based advocacy, The Exodus Foundation provides survivors with a permanent exodus from violence and abuse.

Today, we honor Phillis Wheatley (also spelled Phyllis Wheatley), a groundbreaking poet and a symbol of resilience and brilliance. Born into slavery, she became the first African-American woman in the United States to publish a book of poetry, challenging the norms of her time and paving the way for future generations of women writers and thinkers. Her words continue to inspire us in the fight for freedom, equality, and justice πŸ’šπŸ–€β€οΈπŸ•ŠοΈ

Honoring Tarana Burke this , a trailblazer who turned her painful silence into incredible power. As the founder of the *Me Too* movement in 2006, Tarana has championed the voices of women, especially Black women & women of color, thus igniting a global movement for justice for survivors of sexual violence. Her tireless activism reminds us that true liberation must first begin with the healing and empowerment of Black womenβ€”then, and only then, can ALL women be free πŸ•ŠοΈβ€οΈπŸ–€πŸ’š
