The Montford Point Detachment #158 MCL serves as a commemorative organization honoring the pioneering African American Marines inducted into the predominantly white United States Marine Corps during World War II, spanning from 1942 to 1949. The Montford Point Marine Detachment is a representative organization commemorating the very first African American Marines inducted into the all white United

States Marine Corps during WWII between the years 1942-49. They trained and performed under some of the most brutal forms of racism and segregation at a separate training facility named Montford Point, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, after which Montford Point Marine Detachment adopted its name.
