Holy Eucharist (spoken service) is offered in Nativity Chapel Monday-Thursday at 12:10 p.m. and also on Wednesdays at 7:00 a.m. Choral Evensong is offered on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. The Cathedral Church of St. Paul (Episcopal) has openings for staff singers in the following sections:
Soprano
Tenor

Successful candidates are good sight readers; have good intonation, tone, and diction; are cooperative and willing to take direction; are reliable, and punctual; are friendly and have strong leadership skills.

Weekly rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. The Sunday choral service is at 11:00 a.m. with a 10:00 a.m. rehearsal. Choral Evensong is generally on the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 4:00 p.m. with a 3:00 p.m. rehearsal. There are also the occasional concert engagements and special services.

Located at 4800 Woodward Avenue, in the heart of Detroit’s mid-town cultural district, has a long tradition of excellence in music and the arts, and is the home of the Cathedral Choir School of Metropolitan Detroit.

Technology Update

Thanks for your patience as we address our livestream/recording system. As you may recall, we discovered a failure in our equipment that prevented us from livestreaming or recording services in the Cathedral last Sunday. Needed replacement of the failed component is scheduled to take place next week, and we are planning to be back online in time for liturgies on October 18.

Please note that neither tomorrow's Music at Mid-day concert nor this Sunday's services will be livestreamed. We hope that you will join un in person.

*About our Guest Preacher
The Rev'd Dr. Mark D. Heaney, LPC is an honorably retired minister of the Presbyterian Church (USA). He is happily married to Judy and has four children and six grandchildren.

He received his ministerial training from Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and Phillips Theological Seminary (D. Min.). He has served a variety of parishes as full and part-time pastor. For the past 25 years has had a counseling practice in Oklahoma, Inner Peace Pastoral Counseling. He continues to see a few clients on a part-time basis.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Heaney to the Cathedral this Sunday at the 11:00 a.m. service!

Olivier Messiaen's Livre du Saint Sacrement
performed by organist Joerg Abbing

Olivier Messiaen's incredible cycle for organ, Livre du Saint Sacrement was commissioned by the Detroit Chapter of the American Guild of Organists for their 1986 National Convention, held here in Detroit. The work was premiered at Metropolitan United Methodist Church in a performance by Almut Rössler.

Forty years later, Joerg Abbing, organist, musicologist, and President-elect of the Hanover (Germany) University of Music, will offer a rarely heard full performance of this piece in a concert sponsored by the Detroit Chapter AGO and hosted by the Cathedral.

No admission charge. Donations will be graciously accepted.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ray Stilwell, former Assistant Organist, Cathedral docent, parishioner, and friend.

Funeral services for Mr. Stilwell will take place in the Cathedral on Saturday, October 10 at 11:00 a.m. A repast will follow the liturgy.

Visitation is on September 30, 12 Noon - 8:00 p.m. at Rudy Funeral Home, 25650 Van D**e Ave, Center Line, MI 48015. A short service of remembrance will be offered there at 1:00 p.m. that day.
