Thank you so much to everyone who came out for our free guided Neighborhood Nature Walk! We definitely got caught in some rain, but that didn’t stop us from having a great time together! 🌱🪺

A huge thank you to Detroit Bird Alliance and Ava for teaching us so much about the birds and wildlife throughout the McDougall-Hunt neighborhood. We got to use binoculars, spot birds up close, and learn so many interesting facts along the way!

For some people in our group, this was their very first time birdwatching, which made it even more exciting to see everyone having fun and trying something new. It was such a great way to get outside, connect with neighbors, enjoy nature, and appreciate the beauty of Detroit’s native wildlife.

You’ll learn the basics of permitting and zoning requirements for common neighborhood projects such as pavilions, sheds, pathways, greenhouses, shipping containers, and more! DLBA, BSEED, and Department of Neighborhoods will be in attendance to answer your questions!

Additional Topics Include:

• How DLBA can support community development projects

• Strengthening neighborhood improvement efforts through partnerships and planning

•Using design language to better communicate your project vision

• Identifying organizations and resources that can assist your project at little or no cost

• Start a Neighborhood Association or Block Club

• Learn how to safely use a power drill and gain basic tool knowledge through an interactive demonstration!

We’re looking for volunteers to help support the Bailey Park NDC Tool Lending Library during WDIV Local 4’s Tools To Spare Tool Drive! 🛠️ Thank you to Henry Ford Health, WDIV Local 4, and Gilbert Family Foundation for making this possible!

Join us as we collect, sort, and organize new and gently used tool donations that will help support neighborhood cleanups, community projects, and local residents throughout our community! We will store the tools at our Bailey Park NDC Tool Library and rent them out to local block clubs, neighborhood organizations, and changemakers throughout the year!

Event Hours: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Stay as long or as short as you’d like, any help is greatly appreciated!

Whether you can lend a hand for an hour or spend the day with us, your support makes all the difference. Thank you for helping us build community through shared resources!

What an incredible day of service, community, and beautification! 🌱✨

A huge thank you to all the volunteers from ACCESS, NNAAC, Home Depot, and every community member and supporter who joined us for the 20th Annual National Arab American Service Day at Bailey Park!

Because of your hard work and generosity, Bailey Park, our Hub, and our community garden received so much care and love. Thank you for w**ding, painting, planting, grass cutting, and everything else you did that made a visible and meaningful difference in our neighborhood. Our community is so grateful for this gift of beautification!

Special thank you to ACCESS, NNAAC, and Home Depot for purchasing and providing the materials, supplies, and volunteers that made this day possible. It truly takes a village to do this kind of work, and we are so thankful you chose to be that village with us.

Thank you to everyone who attended our free Tool Library Workshop this past Friday! Community members joined us for a hands-on afternoon of learning, building, and skill-sharing. Attendees practiced using drills by building their own birdhouses, learned how to properly winterize outdoor equipment, and received guidance on safely operating a w**d whacker.

It’s so exciting to watch neighbors gain confidence as they learn new skills. Now, they’ll be able to put these skills into practice as we move toward the spring season!

A huge thank you to Freedom Dreams for facilitating this workshop and allowing us to utilize their space! Partnerships like this make it possible for us to expand our reach and offer even more free resources to our community!
