Mother's Day is a public holiday in Armenia, celebrated on April 7 yearly to honor motherhood. This date also marks the Feast of the Annunciation in the Armenian Church, commemorating the tidings that the Angel Gabriel brought to Mary of our Lord Jesus Christ's future birth. As in most countries worldwide, the day is honored with flowers, cards, and gifts to appreciate mothers, grandmothers, and caregivers in every family.

Holy Saturday, Easter Eve, is the last day of Holy Week. The day marks the end of the sorrow and sadness associated with Jesus Christ's death and the welcoming of the light and joy that symbolizes his resurrection.

Before celebrations begin in the Armenian Church following Good Friday's sad and gloomy services, the black curtain drawn on the altar at the beginning of Lent is replaced with a colorful one. When church services end, it is customary for the faithful to take a lit candle and illuminate their homes with the light of Christ, thus ushering in his blessings for the entire year.

Good Friday is the most sacred day of the Christian calendar, and Christians worldwide commemorate Jesus Christ's crucifixion, death, and burial. As the holiest of days, it is observed in a highly dignified and solemn manner and is a time without work or amusement. In the evening, a symbolic entombment or burial ceremony is performed, and a re-creation of Christ's holy burial site is placed in the Church. When services end, the faithful visit the tomb to offer prayers and take a flower home to honor our Lord's sacrifice.
