All law students should have the support they need to pursue careers in environmental justice.

We're proud to share that starting in 2024, we will annually award the Noah Hall Honorary Scholarship to support a summer intern during their time working with GLELC.

Some law schools provide funding to students pursuing public interest internships, but most do not. The Noah Hall Honorary Scholarship is aimed at ensuring all students can pursue the internship they want, not just the one they can afford.

There's no one better to honor with this award than Noah Hall - founder of the Great Lakes Environmental Law Center and a mentor to countless students aspiring to careers in environmental law.

No parent should have to worry about whether their air is safe to breathe. But in many communities like the Eastside of Detroit, air pollution is already above health-based standard and rates of asthma hospitalizations are increasing. We’ve teamed up with local residents to lead the fight to protect disenfranchised communities from air pollution. Your support will protect residents on the Eastside of Detroit and all across Michigan that cannot send their kids outside to play because they live with dangerous levels of air pollution.

No parent should have to worry about whether the air pollution in their neighborhood is so bad that it might send their children to the hospital. But on the Eastside of Detroit and many other disenfranchised communities across Michigan, families a...

Comments submitted by the Great Lakes Environmental Law Check out the op-ed our Executive Director co-wrote with Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib on Michigan's recent proposal to ignore high ozone levels at Detroit's East 7 Mile air quality monitor.

"Comments submitted by the Great Lakes Environmental Center on behalf of over a dozen environmental advocates opposing EGLE’s request highlighted its lack of evidentiary support and asked the biggest questions: why is the state’s environmental regulator seeking to do less to regulate ozone and its serious health effects?"

A state environmental agency has requested the EPA find Detroit is complying with ozone standards even though it is not and needs even stronger ones.

"Democrats have a historic opportunity to end the state’s racist practice of packing dirty industries into sacrifice zones. Their success — and the future of politics in Michigan — hinges on this moment. They must not squander it."

Wise words from the Detroit's longtime environmental justice advocate Theresa Landrum. Democratic leaders have long made promises to create an environmentally just future. In Michigan, it's time for them to deliver.

There are many urgent issues on the table, but none deserve more attention than the right to breathe clean air, drink clean water, and raise our children free from cancer-causing pollutants
