Detroit Phoenix Center

Detroit Phoenix Center DPC provides youth resources such as rapid rehousing, drop-in center, life skills training, crisis support, and scholarships.

Partnering with young people, DPC drives systemic change to end youth homelessness and create lasting opportunities for success. The Detroit Phoenix Center exists to empower youth who are at-risk or currently experiencing homelessness the resources needed to improve health, wellness, and self-sufficiency.

Recently, we had the pleasure of honoring and awarding four carefully selected folks who have significantly supported our organization at our annual Champion Appreciation Brunch. Each person we recognized, has a direct impact on the organization and community by always showing up and committing to our mission in uplifting youth.

Thank you again to our 2026 awardees who feature Charity Dean , our Community Champion of the Year, Rodd Monts, our Dedicated Servant Leader, Tanesha Sanchez, our Unsung Hero and .resler, who received our You Make a Difference award. We celebrate you today and everyday!

It takes community to create spaces where young people feel supported, welcomed, and safe. 💚

As we continue Youth Up Fridays throughout Downtown Detroit, we’re looking for trusted adults, volunteers, and community partners to help us create positive experiences rooted in connection, mentorship, and care.

Volunteer opportunities include:
• Mobile Unit Support
• Community Engagement
• Food Distribution
• Resource Tables
• Set-Up Support
• DPC & Youth Up Support Teams

Whether you’re showing up to build relationships, support activities, or simply be a positive presence, your time and care can make a meaningful impact.

We have been incredibly overwhelmed in the best way by the positive response to Youth Up Fridays. We’ve seen young people show up, connect, laugh, dance, create, and simply enjoy being in community together downtown.
At the same time, we recognize there have been many conversations around youth and safety in Downtown Detroit following the recent events over the weekend. We are saddened by the recent violence impacting young people in our community. Our hearts are with everyone impacted. 💚
We also want to be clear that young people gathering, building community, and having spaces to connect is not the problem. We believe young people deserve safe, welcoming environments where they can simply be young people.
Youth Up Fridays will continue because we believe in showing up for youth, listening to them, and investing in their future. Prevention, engagement, mentorship, and positive spaces matter.
As we continue these activations, we are working closely with partners and taking the proper precautions to help maintain a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for everyone involved.
Youth Up Fridays was created for youth, by youth. It remains a youth-led initiative rooted in community care, creativity, and connection.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support and believe in this work alongside us.

Join us as we continue creating spaces where young people are connected, supported, and seen! Youth Up Friday’s are designed for youth by youth to meet young people where they are! There will be free food, games, and themed and engaging activities each week.

In partnership with Downtown Detroit Partnership, these evenings are designed for youth to have a space simply show up as they are and enjoy themselves, connect to other resources and be in community!

Join us throughout May and June at Cadillac Square from 6PM–9PM. No registration is needed. However, all activations are first come, first serve.
