NEWCC is excited to announce our Stormwater Resiliency Homeowner's Workshop! This workshop will provide simple, low-cost, sustainable solutions to reduce flood risks in and around your home. Topics include: nature-based solutions for stormwater management, native plants and pollinators, home assessment exercises, and more! We’re excited to share that we are one of 750 grantees selected to receive a 2026 AARP Community Challenge grant from AARP Livable Communities and AARP Michigan!

We’re incredibly proud to receive this investment to help make Detroit more livable for people of all ages. With this grant, we will conduct two age-friendly walk and bike safety audits along Woodward Avenue. An intergenerational team will assess crossings, sidewalks, traffic conditions, and bike access. Stay tuned for more information on how you can get involved!
