An out of this world take on the classic alien invasion B movie created through circus, fire, flow, and burlesque! The Quixotic (quick-sot-ic) Project was founded in 2005 by two dozen people in the Metro Detroit area, and about another dozen from across the country. That year we headed from Detroit to the Black Rock desert outside Reno, Nv at the BURNING MAN festival to build three 20' Dutch style
Windmills. Amid dust storms and 70 mph winds we took three moving embodiments of peoples fears and nightmares and burnt them down in a mad rush of knights with flaming lances. Now that we are addicted to this whole experience, we have two major goals. First, we are going to keep making big crazy interactive fire art. Second, we want to do our part helping to build community in the Detroit area by throwing some truly unique events that bring a bit of Burning Man back to the Midwest.
.Our Fundraiser for The Shadow Chamber: Theatre Noir at Theatre Bizarre.. Imagine a Film Noir (ranging from the Maltese Falcon to Sin City and Bound) set on the grounds of an run down and twisted carnival. Think seduction, fire, s*x, fashion, fire, music, burlesque, cabaret, style, gangsters, bo***ge, fedoras, sideshow acts garters, freaks, juggling, and you'll start to get the idea. Costumes of all sorts encouraged.
.Our Project for Burning Man 2006: The Shadow Chamber.. The Shadow Chamber Project is ambient chills space the surrounds the viewer in a landscape of flowing shadows and atmospheric music. Inside this space will be a room that contains a series of spinning and rotating shadow projectors creating a powerful and immersive visual experience. We are creating this project for the 2006 Burning Man fire arts festival, as well as for parties in Detroit such as Theatre Noir.

Suburbanites see them as wonderful products of modern convenience that allow well-adjusted Americans to heat up creamed corn, processed chicken, and a mash potato like substance all in the same little card board tray. Hippies see them as an evil tool of big corporations and the government that are another way for the powers that be to chemically alerter the purity of the food we eat through irradiation. Microwaves are Wonderful Boxes that contain another way to harness the power of LIGHT and FIRE! Is this tool the birth right of man, a product of our inherent genius? Lucifer? Who cares?! What is important is that we haven't had a chance to play with them enough!
