Successfully mentoring and encouraging student-athletes to devote an equal amount of energy into heal Sound Mind Sound Body Football Academy is a program of Sound Mind Sound Body (SMSB) Foundation-a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization-is a leading mentor of young student-athletes in under-served communities across America. Since 2

004, the SMSB Football Academy has held camps in Detroit and other locations including Washington, D.C., Tampa, Atlanta, Houston, and Los Angeles. To date, there have been over 13,000 participants and 2,000 participants have received college scholarships, 9 have been drafted to the NFL and nearly 50 have made it to NFL rosters. These are concrete results that athletics, with the combination of academic support, mentoring, and resources, can be a vehicle for improving low academic performance and lead to high school graduation and college scholarships. To deliver its message, SMSB® utilizes NFL Legends and current NFL Players, Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches from top 10 division I, MAC (Mid-American Conference) and division II schools.

We have partnered with the Grow Detroit's Young Talent Program for 2 Summers. Students in the GDYT program engage in career exploration, training and work experience, and career pathway internships.

For 2 summers SMSB and The GDYT program has provided Detroit's young adults with work experience and career opportunities through community service, team projects, and job shadowing. We are growing and building our community, while providing quality skills and opportunities for our youth.
