The open space in Broadway Park West is in a floodplain and floodway, requiring plants that will survive in variable moisture conditions.
We are very excited to begin planting! Trees to be planted near the river include: Black Tupelo, Common Hackberry, Burr Oak, Frontier Elm and Serviceberry, to name a few. https://plantitwild.net/native-plants/plants-we-use/under-story-trees/serviceberry/
A mesic meadow seed mix of forbs and grasses, along with moisture tolerant shrubs such as Red Twig Dogwood and Buttonbush, are also planned along the river to filter stormwater runoff.
Take a walk over the and check it out!
