The open space in Broadway Park West is in a floodplain and floodway, requiring plants that will survive in variable moisture conditions.

We are very excited to begin planting! Trees to be planted near the river include: Black Tupelo, Common Hackberry, Burr Oak, Frontier Elm and Serviceberry, to name a few. https://plantitwild.net/native-plants/plants-we-use/under-story-trees/serviceberry/

A mesic meadow seed mix of forbs and grasses, along with moisture tolerant shrubs such as Red Twig Dogwood and Buttonbush, are also planned along the river to filter stormwater runoff.

Take a walk over the and check it out!

The bridge is not yet ready for use, but will be ready in the coming weeks! (Soon, we won't have to carry our bikes/strollers/children over the Argo Dam Bridge!! 🙌🚲🤩)

An "adaptive reuse" project, Broadway Park West will open up riverfront land that has been closed to the public since the 19th century.

The centerpiece of the park will be the Commons, a two- acre, tree-lined elliptical lawn that will sit adjacent to a 1,200-foot riverfront trail, connecting Broadway Park West to Washtenaw County’s Border to Border Trail system.

Take a walk over the Broadway Bridge to see all the action!
