Each year, the state picks a day to count how many students are in their seats to help determine school funding. This year, that day is Wednesday, October 7th. 

Count Day shapes the programs, resources, and opportunities available to our schools. Every student in their seat on Wednesday, October 7th helps power the funding, programs, and opportunities that keep our schools strong. It’s simple, when you’re in class, from the first bell to the last, your school receive funding! Make it Count. Save the Date, October 7th.

DPSCD Families: Every Form Matters!

Did you know completing the Education Benefits Form (EBF) helps DPSCD continue providing free school meals for all students?

Even though all DPSCD students receive meals at no cost, every completed form helps the District identify student needs and secure critical funding and resources that support our schools, students and families.

One form is needed per household, and the deadline is October 14. Complete your form today here detroitk12.info/EBF26.

The Michigan State Board of Education Special Education Committee wants to hear from students, families, educators, advocates, school districts, service providers and community stakeholders about how they want to engage with the committee
and what they want the committee to know as it begins the next phase of its work to strengthen special education services, supports and outcomes.

“Families, students and educators experience our special education system every day and they know where it is working and where we need to do better,” said State Board President Dr. Pamela Pugh, chair of the committee. “We want to learn from those experiences and make sure they help shape the work ahead.”
