At the CPS and Foster Care reform rally held April 30th at the Michigan State Capitol, we were reminded how powerful it is when communities come together to demand better care for children and families. NSO’s CEO Linda Little joined advocates and leaders calling for meaningful reform and stronger protections for children to prevent abuse and deaths. NSO's Don’t Touch Me campaign continue to push for accountability and a system that truly protects every child.

We're grateful to the Detroit News for amplifying an urgent message this Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Our President & CEO, Linda Little, shares a sobering reality: at least 52 children in Wayne County have died from abuse or neglect since 2022 β€” more than 1 in 10 of all child deaths in the county. Two-thirds of them were younger than three years old.

At NSO, we're committed to changing this. Our "Don't Touch Me" campaign is built on a simple belief: every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and protected. And we're actively working to back that belief with policy β€” supporting proposed legislation that would require comprehensive, mandatory training for child abuse investigators and decision-makers before they ever step into those roles.

Read Linda's full op-ed and learn what you can do β€” starting today:
