The affordable housing crisis impacts families, seniors, landlords, developers, and entire communities—and an important conversation about solutions is happening in Detroit.

On July 1, 2026, the Hometown Summit: A Vision for Affordable Housing will bring together local and national leaders, including former HUD Secretary Marcia L. Fudge , for a collaborative discussion on Detroit’s housing future. Hosted by NSO in partnership with Wayne County Community College District, the summit will focus on building innovative, community-driven solutions to address housing challenges.

The conversation about improving access to affordable housing cannot wait.

On July 1, 2026, NSO and Wayne County Community College District will bring together community leaders, housing advocates, policymakers, and residents for the Affordable Housing Summit 2026, headlined by keynote speaker Secretary Marcia L. Fudge , former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

NSO President & CEO Linda Little and former State Senator Adam Hollier will also be part of this important discussion focused on the future of affordable housing in Detroit.

Children deserve a system that protects them. NSO supports Senate Bill 605, legislation aimed at increasing transparency and accountability within Michigan’s Child Protective Services system by expanding access to certain CPS records in serious cases involving child abuse and neglect.
