Young people entering their freshman year of high school are selected every year to engage in an intensive four year training program. Youth are selected through a rigorous process led at the local level by partners, adult allies, and New Look Foundation staff. The first year of the Leadership Academy focuses on talent. In this year, youth learn to explore their talents and passions, define and manage a personal brand, and use their talents to plan for personal success and community improvement. Year Two: Education
The second year of the Leadership Academy supports young people’s success in education. During this year youth learn how to identify different learning styles, how to become a peer teacher, the hard and soft skills necessary to get the most out of their education, and how to plan for post-secondary success. Year Three: Career
The third year of the Leadership Academy prepares youth for the business world. This year gives youth the basic skills they need to prepare for a successful career by introducing them to basic business skills, career planning related to their interests and passions, and experiential entrepreneurial activities. Year Four: Service
The final year of the Leadership Academy helps youth deeply explore and experience service and civic leadership. During this year, youth solidify their skills are peer trainers, learn about the art of creating social change and create toolkits to help other youth lead Powered By Service projects.
