Week 1 of junior sailing is complete! Our sailors have been working on trimming and telltales - for learn to sail, that means learning how to trim to the different points of sail. Our racers are working on fine tuning their trimming while adjusting to wind shifts and other boats around them to keep their speed up.

We are so glad that summer has arrived! Our sailors have been out on the water every day this week practicing trimming and mark roundings.

Don't forget our Family Day this Saturday, August 3rd from 10 am - 2 pm. We'll sail, eat, and celebrate the season, our sailors, and our coaches. Kids will also receive their program shirts! Feel free to invite friends and/or relatives as well. See you then!

Who says Mondays can’t be productive? Good luck to all of our 420/ Laser kids at NSSC! Our learn to sail and opti kids have been hard at work practicing upwind tactics back at the DYC.

We’re excited for the Bayview regatta in two weeks too - wish us luck!

Big congrats to Teddy for winning white fleet again! The CSYC regatta was a blast, despite not being able to get any races off on day 2.

Next week, our 420s and Lasers will be heading to NSSC for their fourth regatta!

Wow! We’ve been falling behind on our coach spotlight, since we’ve been so busy sailing! This is Coach McKenzie’s 2nd year coaching at the Detroit Yacht Club. She grew up in DRYA junior sailing at Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, and is currently the Commodore of the WMU Sailing Team. We’re so happy to have you back!

There was a lack of wind today, but definitely no lack of fun! The PYC long distance race was a success, despite some weather issues. Graham ended up 3rd in blue fleet, and 3rd overall today!

What a great first regatta at GPYC! Teddy won white fleet, and Andrew and Charlie won JAM 420s! Next week we are headed to Pontiac Yacht Club for our second regatta
