Thank you, United Way for Southeastern Michigan! The focus on Coleman A. Young Foundation (CAYF) and our founder's legacy captures the past while forecasting the historic days to come. We are proud of this mission, and honored to share this story with this amazing community.

When I was 18 years old, on my way to college as a pell grant eligible, 1st gen, Eastside Detroiter, the Coleman A. Young Foundation (CAYF) made us promise to come back and use the gift of education they so generously supported to help improve the city of Detroit. I never forgot my promise.

I love this picture from the Detroit Right to Counsel Coalition Meeting because they graciously invited me to speak about my movement activism with SECURE study and this sista came up to me and said she was so inspired by my work and has been wanting to connect with me and didn’t know I would be there. She said she wants to know more about social epidemiology, and her words were so beautiful, that me and the other sista were similarly moved.😭🥹❣️

I feel most fulfilled when I’m IN community, sharing actionable information to organize us for the coming revolution. May the ancestors be pleased. Ashe❤️🖤💚
