The Wayne State University Harris Literacy Program was established through the generosity of Mr. His passion to help allows us to provide FREE adult basic education to Detroit citizens with low literacy skills. We service this population in multiple locations around Detroit with the intention of giving each participant the skills they need to advance their career and economic status. We seek to ra

ise adult literacy in Detroit so those who are typically marginalized can access opportunities and make positive contributions to their families and the surrounding community. The Harris Literacy Program brings the educational resources of a premier research institution directly to people who need it most and uses evidence-based strategies to provide sound literacy instruction in light of best practices. In addition, the Harris Literacy Program helps to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in Detroit's adult educational landscape co-facilitating the P.U.L.S.E. Literacy Forum.
