The Michigan Area Health Education Program (MI-AHEC) was established in 2010 by Wayne State University as a partnership between the School of Medicine and the College of Nursing and is funded by the Health Resources and Administrative Services (HRSA) as a federal grant (AHEC) established by Congress. ed to underserved populations. The Michigan Area Health Education Center launched its Southeast Regional Center (SERC) in 2017. SERC is hosted by Health Centers Detroit Foundation, Inc. (HCD) - a non-profit, 501(c)3, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Look-Alike, three-site community health center. Located in Detroit, Mich., SERC is responsible for implementing AHEC goals in 9 counties: Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne. MI Southeast Regional AHEC connects Students to Careers, Professionals to Communities, and Communities to Better Health.
