At the invitation of The Garden Club of Michigan, Dutch garden designer Piet Oudolf has created a new garden on Belle Isle. Piet's past projects include the Lurie Garden in Chicago and the High Line in New York City.

We are honored to welcome Dr. Doug Tallamy as the featured speaker for the Grosse Pointe Garden Center Legacy Seminar. Dr. Tallamy is an entomologist, ecologist, conservationist, and a Professor of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Delaware.

His work focuses on the essential connections between native plants and wildlife, and how individual actions, especially in home landscapes, can play a meaningful role in supporting healthy ecosystems. Through research, teaching, and public engagement, Dr. Tallamy encourages communities to rethink how gardens, yards, and shared spaces can contribute to conservation efforts.

The Hudson-Webber Foundation (HWF) proudly announces the dedication of the All-Native Meadows, a heartfelt tribute to the remarkable Jean Wright Hudson. Designed by celebrated landscape artist Piet Oudolf, the newly established Jean Wright Hudson Peace Meadow features around 15,000 native perennials and shrubs planted this year, enhancing Detroit’s natural beauty.

Seven years after planning efforts began, a world-class garden designed by famed landscape architect Piet Oudolf on Belle Isle Park is finished.The final plantings — all-native perennials, grasses and shrubs — were put in at the Oudolf Garden Detroit on Belle Isle this month, filling in meadows....
