Our October member meeting featured guests from the Department of Elections. We exchanged ideas and raised our concerns regarding accessibility at polling sites and the functionality of Voter Assist Terminals (VATs). We appreciate City Clerk Janice Winfrey for being present and look forward to continued communication with her office to protect the right to vote for all Detroiters.

Join our partner organization the Just Ask Foundation by attending their 6th annual health and fun fair. This is a fun-filled day dedicated to seniors, the disabled, caregivers, and the general public! This event is designed to celebrate health and happiness with activities and opportunities that promote well-being for everyone.

The fair takes place on Thursday October 1, 2026 starting at 10:00 AM at the Samaritan Center Wellness Building, located at 5405 Conner St in Detroit, MI.

Come together to enjoy a vibrant atmosphere where health meets fun in an inclusive environment. We look forward to seeing you there!

WOW member Brother Cunningham can always be seen handing out resources to the community of transit riders in Detroit. His Free Fare Fridays will see him handing out bus tickets, water, low-income housing and paratransit forms. He has a limited number of portable power banks to charge phones or other electronic devices, these being reserved for women and seniors in need. To support Cunningham’s efforts, you may donate to his Cash App at 313-444-9114. 🙏🏾
