La Carpa Theatre Sean todos y todas bienvenidos! The project is inspired by Las Carpas, a form of theater from Mexico in the beginnings of the 20th century.

La Carpa Theatre is a project that will consist of a “devised theatre” and visual art collaboration piece telling the stories of a group of children from the Latinx community of Detroit. We will travel around the city with a series of bilingual pop-up performances that will include unique portable scenery created by the children, and guided by muralist Elton Monroy Duran. The play will be develope

d in collaboration with the children and directed by Karilu Alarcon Forshee. El proyecto consistirá en una colaboración de arte visual y teatral. La obra contará diferentes historias de niños de la comunidad Latina de Detroit. El proyecto está inspirado en Las Carpas, un estilo de teatro en México que tiene sus inicios a principios del siglo 20. Llevaremos por toda la ciudad de Detroit una serie de presentaciones teatrales espontáneas, que incluirá una escenografía portátil única creada por los niños. Los niños serán guiados durante el proceso creativo de escenografía por el muralista Elton Monroy Duran. La obra sería escrita en colaboración con los niños y dirigida por Karilú Alarcón Forshee.
