For more than 180 years, St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center has stood alongside individuals and families as they work toward brighter futures through education.

Every day, we see what happens when a community chooses to invest in people. A child gains confidence in the classroom. An adult earns their GED. A learner prepares for college, a new career, or the next step toward a goal they once thought was out of reach.

This is the heart of our mission: to provide educational opportunities, resources, and support that empower individuals to build a better future.

Tomorrow, we'll be stepping out into the community to participate in Walk a Mile Wednesday, an initiative that brings community members and law enforcement together through conversation, connection, and a shared commitment to building stronger neighborhoods.

At SVSF, we believe that meaningful change happens when people come together. We're proud to stand alongside our community partners and the Detroit Police Department as we walk, talk, and strengthen the relationships that help our students and families thrive.

Each year, volunteers provide thousands of hours of tutoring, mentoring, and classroom support to help children and adult learners achieve their goals.

Whether helping a child improve reading skills, supporting an adult learner preparing for the GED, or sharing professional knowledge and encouragement, volunteers help students build confidence and move closer to success.

🌟 Mission Monday | Why Early Literacy Matters

Every great future begins with the ability to read.

Children who read proficiently by third grade are significantly more likely to graduate from high school, making early literacy one of the strongest predictors of long-term academic success. Strong reading skills are the foundation for success in every subject. From solving math problems to understanding science concepts and exploring history, reading opens the door to learning.

💙 Community partnerships make learning possible.

A heartfelt thank you to The Good Eggs Foundation for investing in our students and helping create opportunities for learning both inside and outside the classroom.

In addition to supporting our recent hands-on activity, the Good Eggs Foundation generously donated headphones, Common Core ELA workbooks, and microscopes. These resources will benefit our students throughout the year. These tools help make learning more engaging, interactive, and accessible while inspiring curiosity and confidence.

Every partnership and every act of generosity helps us provide meaningful educational experiences that empower students to reach their full potential.
