MSHDA has launched a new Community Land Trust (CLT) Loan Program, expanding access to the MI Home Loan and $10,000 Down Payment Assistance (DPA) Program to CLT homebuyers!

https://www.michigan.gov/mshda/pathway-to-housing/mi-home-loan

After years of partnership, advocacy, and persistence, this new loan program marks a major milestone in MSHDA’s support of Community Land Trusts and the expansion of permanently affordable homes throughout Michigan.

Key program highlights include:

Eligible CLT Properties
Homes must be located within an approved CLT, including CLTs on the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac shared equity approval list or CLTs participating in certain MSHDA programs and listed on MSHDA’s approved CLT list.

Lender Participation
Lenders completing MSHDA CLT loans must have CLT experience and/or approval from the applicable CLT, along with completion of required CLT training.

CLT-Specific Requirements
Qualifying CLTs must be either on the shared equity Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac approval list OR participating in MSHDA funded development program (Missing Middle, MI Neighborhood, etc.).

We encourage CLTs and lenders interested in participating to review the full MSHDA CLT Program Fact Sheet and begin conversations about lender readiness, approved CLT status, and transaction coordination.

This is an exciting opportunity to strengthen Michigan’s shared equity homeownership ecosystem and expand access to sustainable, affordable homeownership for our neighbors! We look forward to working with CLTs and lenders across the State on this new program.

The MI Home Loan program is a mortgage product that is available to first-time homebuyers state-wide and repeat homebuyers in targeted areas.  All homebuyers work directly with a participating lender.

There is still time to submit a proposal for a Children's Savings Account Innovation and Sustainability Grant with CEDAM: The Community Economic Development Association of Michigan

This funding opportunity is for supporting organizations with established Children’s Savings Account (CSA) programs in strengthening their immediate and long-term sustainability, effectiveness, and community impact. While innovative approaches are preferred, proposals do not need to be groundbreaking to be competitive.

A core purpose of this grant is not only to carry out the work but also to share what is learned so others can benefit. Projects may focus on addressing practical needs, building durable infrastructure, or strategic enhancements to ensure CSA programs are accessible, impactful, and financially sustainable.

Proposal must be submitted by June 15, 2026. The award period is September 1, 2026-June 30, 2027.

Downtown Detroit Partnership I-75 Cap Project - The Road Ahead
May 2026 Public Engagement Survey

The I-75 Cap project is a locally led, and U.S. Department of Transportation supported, initiative to reconnect communities cut off from economic and social opportunities by prior transportation infrastructure decisions. The Downtown Detroit Partnership is co-leading this planning initiative with the City of Detroit and Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).

A highway cap is a bridge structure built over a highway with the intention of reconnecting communities harmed by this infrastructure. A range of benefits can result from these projects, including enhanced mobility, environmental benefits, and added public space serving as an anchor for current and future development.
The I-75 Cap project consists of three park caps over I-75 between 3rd Avenue and Brush Street in Downtown Detroit.

This survey is an opportunity for you to share your ideas and priorities for the future park caps. Your voices, experiences, and perspectives will help guide the cultural, programmatic, and outdoor spaces that serve Downtown Detroit now and for generations to come.

The I-75 Cap project consists of three park caps over I-75 between 3rd Avenue and Brush Street in Downtown Detroit.

The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete.
