Can I be honest with you?

Yesterday someone told me she unfollowed me because I stopped doing day-in-the-life vlogs and the new content wasn’t aligned with her anymore. She missed the ones with music. The ones with the crazy voiceover.
I wasn’t shocked by what she said. I was shocked because I realized I had let my own inner thoughts talk me out of creating the content I actually love. Vlogs are easy for me. They are my favorite thing to make, right next to educational content.

So here we are. Welcome back to the daily vlogs. My goal is one a day 👀
I think I started shifting my content because I assumed that’s what my audience wanted. Turns out they did want vlogs from me, just not the polished, pressure-filled version I convinced myself I needed to make.

Today was epic though. It’s my birthday month, so of course we hit all my favorite spots. Even in the rain.

39 years of living, loving, building, and figuring it out in real time.

Some of these took way too long to learn. Some I’m still practicing. All of them are true.

I’m a mom, a creator, a Black woman, a Detroiter, and a friend who has had to unlearn just as much as I’ve learned. This list is all that.

$50. Two stops. Five meals. And I started in my own pantry.

Did I stick to the budget?

Before I spend a dollar, I do a full fridge, freezer, and pantry inventory. It’s the move nobody talks about — because most grocery content skips straight to the haul. But shopping what you already have is where the real savings live.

This week: Eastern Market Market for produce (kale, peppers, sweet potatoes — all cheaper than any chain store in the city), then Rivertown Market to fill the protein and dairy gaps.

Total: under $50. On a cargo e-bike. In Detroit.

This is $50 & Stocked — a weekly series where I show my real haul, my real list, and the system behind it. New episode every Sunday on YouTube.

Spring break looked a little different for us this year and I wouldn’t change a thing.

We took the Amtrak from Detroit, pulled up to Chicago with zero highway stress, and hit the ground running.

She designed her own shirt at Uniqlo, we got lost in the Color Factory, donated to the museum because it was free to us and that felt right, found stationery shops I had no business walking into, and ate at local spots that genuinely deserve your coins.

The hotel? Covered with points. So every dollar we actually spent went exactly where it should back into the community.

That’s the whole mission of The Local Tourist. Exploring Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio close to home, on purpose, and spending in ways that actually matter.

Where should we go next? Drop your Midwest recs below.

Hilton Hotels & Resorts
Griffin Museum of Science and Industry

They said “never.”

But autism parents, autistic adults, and the people who love them rewrote that story every single day.

Today is World Autism Day and instead of just posting a blue puzzle piece and moving on, let’s actually talk about it.

✅ 1 in 36 children in the U.S. is autistic
✅ Autism is a spectrum — no two experiences look the same
✅ Autistic people don’t need to be fixed. They need to be understood.

The best thing you can do today? Listen to autistic voices. Follow autistic-led creators. Presume competence, always!

Drop a 🔵 if you or someone you love is part of this community. I see you.

They said two women in the same industry can’t work together. They said somebody would steal somebody’s clients. They said the collab wouldn’t be real.
We said watch.
