Last week, we celebrated our GDYT 2026 graduates!

This summer, they turned hard work into real skills; mastering carpentry, masonry, and welding.

They didn’t just build things. They built confidence, character, and their futures.

A typical day during the GDYT training this summer looked like this : tools on the table, eyes forward, ready to learn.

What it actually was? Young people figuring out what they’re capable of, one cut at a time. Now they’ve graduated and taken that with them.

Our GDYT 2026 students are graduating today!

These young talents spent the summer mastering carpentry, masonry, and welding; building real skills through Our Town, a program of Atlantic Impact.

From laying brick to firing up the welding torch to building furniture from scratch, they showed up and put in the work every single day.

Today we celebrate not just what they built, but who they’re becoming.

Last week, Our Town Training School students spent a day at the Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 80 Training Center in Warren; getting a real, hands-on look at what a career in the skilled trades actually looks like.

From the tools to the training floor, our students explored the kind of opportunities that build futures.

A big thank you to Local 80 for opening your doors and showing our students what’s possible. This is what career exploration is all about; seeing it up close and imagining themselves in it.

Our students recently took a tour of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers, Local 2, MI.

This visit gave them a real look at the path ahead; and a glimpse of where their hard work now can take them.

A big thank you to Local 2 for opening your doors and giving our students this experience.

Proud moment for our Atlantic Impact family.

Our Senior Program Director, Matt, presented Malik, Marshaun, Jaylen, and Dajuan with their Red Wing steel toe boots as they officially begin their careers as Local Apprentices at Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers, Local 2, MI.

From the classroom to the job site; these young men put in the work, and now they’re stepping into their futures one brick at a time. We couldn’t be prouder of you all.

Special shoutout to Gary Horne, their High School CTE instructor and a 30-year Local 2 union bricklayer himself.
