Rising 1st–8th graders — are you ready for a summer of learning, creativity, and FUN?

At Wellspring, summer is more than childcare — it’s enrichment, movement, discovery, and growth.

If you have a high school student who is thinking about college, trade school, or career pathways, Wellspring is opening enrollment for our College & Career Prep 2.5 Program (Feb–June 2026).

This is not just tutoring. This is real preparation.

Your student will receive:

✔ Scholarship & FAFSA support
✔ Financial literacy & budgeting skills
✔ Guest speakers & career exposure
✔ Breakfast provided every session

Today, Wellspring shines our light as a dedicated after-school provider. We are grateful for our students and families, and equally grateful to our dedicated funders and sponsors that allow us to keep shining our light!!

Our Summer Discovery Camp is off to a great start if our students' smiles are any indication! Thanks to funding from the Ballmer Group and United Way for Southeastern Michigan, we are able to provide the all-day, 6-week summer camp at no cost to participants. Students have academics in the morning. In the afternoon and depending on the day, they have free play, structured games with the YMCA, hands-on learning with Mad Science, and chess for the first three weeks. Later in the summer they will have swim lessons and art classes from Live Coal. It's a summer full of learning and great times!

We continue to mourn the heartbreaking loss of Mr. Kwasi Agbottah (Mr. K), our former Lead Instructor at Wellspring, and his wife Elizabeth, who tragically lost their lives in a car accident last weekend.

Mr. K was a gifted teacher, a powerful mentor, and a man of deep faith. His impact on our students and staff was profound—he believed in the power of education and community to transform lives. Together, he and his wife devoted themselves to serving youth and families as urban missionaries.

They leave behind five beautiful children. In response to this tragedy, a fundraiser has been established to support their children in the days and years ahead.

In Loving Memory of Mr. Kwasi Agbottah "Mr. K" and His Beloved Wife Elizabeth.

We continue to hold space for the memory of Mr. K, our former Lead Instructor at Wellspring, and his beloved wife, Elizabeth, whose lives left a profound impact on our community. Mr. K was a dedicated mentor, educator, and servant-leader whose legacy of faith, compassion, and commitment to youth development lives on through all those he touched.

A memorial service to honor their lives will be held on:

We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Mr. Kwasi Agbottah (Mr. K) and his beloved wife Elizabeth Agbottah, who were killed in a car crash this past weekend in Detroit.

Mr. K served as the Lead Instructor here at Wellspring. During his time with us, he poured his energy and heart into guiding, mentoring, and teaching our youth. He and his wife were known in the community as urban missionaries, living lives marked by faith, service, and love.

They leave behind five beautiful children and a legacy of care, conviction, and compassion.

Our hearts go out to their children, families, and all who are mourning this devastating loss. Please continue to keep their loved ones in your prayers. 💔
